‘Afterburner’
In a spin!
Afterburner is a square spin painting created with orange purple and red paints with hints of turquoise, blue and white. It’s a great name for a terrific painting and one I am super happy with.
I’ve been using my rotating table quite a lot recently – mainly in pursuit of a particular camera shot – for the purposes of broadcasting it live on my weekly live streams across the internet.
After a number of failures with tech we managed to film a short sequence and here is the result.
Anyway, all that persistence with making things work has given me the opportunity to paint a number of 100cm square radial spin paintings and this is one of them. If you want to watch how it was made then have a look at this video and skip to the 33:00 mark.

I’m trying to come up with different ideas and concepts and play with them until I reach something I can consider worthy of putting my name to. I am having a lot of fun with it at the moment and am creating some superb artworks.
Those colours…
The combination of colours in Afterburner is a topic noteworthy of mentioning. Bold orange tears open a rift through the whole painting and fills that diagonal with a piercing blast of heat.
This gets tempered with a cool aqua-turquoise and that smooth, deep purple. Then, just as you ease back into comfort mode that red punches a hole through your chest and accelerates you up to warp speed!
It really is a fantastic journey into hyper-space and is going to look amazing on virtually any wall.
