Fleeting Lights is a large, square abstract painting created with an assortment of colours from all corners of the paint spectrum. It’s inspiration is spring time and the abundance of colours this time of year produces.

Where to begin?

You may instantly notice the colour choices or you may see the angled strokes that flow across the canvas. Whatever strikes you first you’ll certainly get no shortage of positve vibes that’s for sure! I painted this with a distinctly upbeat frame of mind; parking all of life’s baggage for a more carefree and uplifting couple of paint sessions.

From the fizzing array of textured blues and purples deep in the corner, to the bursting, fesh sunlight yellow that pierces the top side of the painting; this is a deceptively refreshing and easy-to-live-with abstract that never fails to smile back at you.

Detalis

I’m a real sucker for the small things so it should come as no surprise to know that I spent a lot of time making sure that all those tiny dots of paint were indivudually placed with great care and attention. These, you may like to know, were applied  with my fingers as I bent over the canvas surface. And who said finger painting was for kids eh?

But the details don’t stop there. Glance further and you’ll see plant stems rising from the fertile soil towards the sunlight; all effortlessley pointing in the same direction (not an easy feat to achieve).

In some places I have blended paints with great delicacy to produce very subtle colour shifts. These tonal changes add another dramatic surprise to an already vibrant painting. Sometimes it’s good to have complimentary tones that you don’t expect. All of them work in hamrony though and the overall effect is one of growth and rebirth.
