Retroglide is a medium-sized abstract painting created with a series of red, silver and pink colored paints. Added to this is are a collection of complimentary tones like white, copper, gold and black.
I have another one a little like this, albeit in a larger size (called Electroglide) that featured a similar arrangement of colors ad shapes. That was a very popular painting and found s home quite quickly, so I always thought I would do another one day because I enjoyed painting it so much.
This original artwork is a big celebration of metallics. I love using this genre of enamel paint because of the way that light reflects across the tiny flakes as you move around the canvas surface.
It’s almost impossible to put into words to describe and is something you really do have to experience for yourself. But the effect is profound and both subtle and bold at the same time.
That only tells part of the story though because to focus on these metallic elements would be detrimental to the absolute rage of joy you get from looking at the red and pink colors that envelop the painting in a warm, radiant glow.
The whole composition of this painting revolves around these two extraordinarily deep and rich colors. They are infused into every part of the canvas. As the painting was started and finished in just one sitting, I was able to weave them into all the layers of paint – irrespective of when they were applied.
The result of this is a confident and fresh painting that doesn’t hold back in it’s exuberance. it’s charismatic and deep and full of the most incredible details. If you want to put a line in the sand and do something for yourself for a change then you should definitely consider putting this on a wall somewhere.
Drop me a line and I will get back to you as soon as is humanly possible!
