This is a square painting created with a number of interesting colors taken from a very natural, botanical palette. It began with using a few shades of green and yellow as a base layer, onto which came the main colours you see as it has dried.
These are comprised of jade green, burgundy, white, Swarez blue, orange and turquoise. The shapes in the paint were created using my spin table – a custom built item that I use quite a lot as it gives you some incredible effects and details. And it’s one of those techniques that always delivers something new and evolved.
The natural world
Now, even though the title is one of cosmological reference (and a killer synthesizer track by Kebu), there is a definite lean toward the celebration of plants and flowers going on here. This was something that evolved as I painted and is a process you can see in the video below (skip to around half way through if you want to see this particular painting being created).
What has transpired is a truly gorgeous painting that has multiple focal points and a truly sublime colour palette. If you’re thinking about bringing the outside in then this could very well be the painting for you.
Life and stuff
It’s always effortless to look at but remarkably nuanced and detailed; giving you fresh perspectives every time you look at it. So whether you think of it as a flowering tropical coastline or the inside of a distant nebula you still end up with a breath-taking original art work that delivers on every level.
And it’s comforting to think that no matter whether its cell division, photosynthesis or the birth of a star this is a celebration of birth, growth and the wonder of life.
