Firestarter

Let me start by stating the obvious, Firestarter is a beautiful piece of art. The main colours in this large original painting are red, orange and yellow. It’s these that form the backbone of the painting and are eagerly complimented by black, pink, white and burgundy.

I love using these combinations of colour – the very essence of fire itself. Warmth abounds at every vantage point and that feeling of security is equally matched by that of drama. Imagine the majestic dance of flames as they rise into the night.

Not everything you see, though, is as straightforward as it appears. Step in a little closer and you get the most amazing level of detail imaginable. If I could step onto the surface of the sun I imagine it to look something like this; a bristling abundance of stuff everywhere you look. Ever changing, ever shifting.

Move in closer still and you begin to reveal worlds within worlds. Tiny microcosms of detail occupy the most impossibly small spaces and a guarantee that you’ll be picking out nuances for decades if you’re the lucky one who decides to buy it.
