What a painting!
Hypnotica is a large abstract painting featuring a mesmerizing base layer of turquoise green (actually it’s a colour belonging to the Piaggio scooter company in Italy – no, really it is!). Added to this is a bristling cacophony of metallic purple, burgundy, orange, gold and white. It really is quite a feast for the eyes just in terms of colour alone and this is one of the main attractions of the painting – that incredible range of colour.
I created this painting on one of our infamous Live Stream broadcasts that we do every Wednesday from the studio. You can watch here how this large turquoise and purple painting was created.
When the words run out…
I am no shrinking violet when it comes to talking about my own paintings. Quite often you’ll hear me talking lyrically about how majestic something is or how incredibly detailed things can be when you get up close.
So it wouldn’t be out of place to do the same here right? Except that, in this instance, I find myself staring at the canvas and losing the ability to translate what I see and feel into words I can understand.
What that means for me is that I have found something i can only experience rather than remember. It must be to so with being present in the moment or something like that. I don’t really know because I’m, not a psychologist. But I do know that when I see this I lose track of everything else.
For me, at the very least, it has obviously ticked the profound box. Which now leaves me with a curious problem – that, for once, I don’t have a lot to say after this. I love everything about this painting. I guess that’s why I called it Hypnotica – as that’s kind of how it leaves me feeling – utterly hypnotized and transfixed by it.
If you get the opportunity, please come and see it before someone buys it…
