One shape, one heart

This is the only carbon fibre artwork that features a single cast shape. And yes, it is supposed to resemble a heart before you ask!

But like all of my work the suggestion of the subject matter only goes so far – after all, this is a piece of abstract art. The amount of red pigment I has been carefully considered to prevent overloading the piece, that would have been way to oppressive. The resulting shape is something really rather beautiful.

The gold connection

Not content with the addition of a fine copper powder you’ll also find a small amount of real 18ct gold in there too. In some of the photos you can see how this lights up under a light source. It was an expensive addition – even for this small amount – but was totally worth it.

The combination of gold and copper with this particular shade of red has produced a deep and charismatic colour palette that looks sensational. The whole thing is cast under four layers of resin which has cured to form over the surface and flows to the edges of the inside of the frame.

Reflecting light

Oh where do I start? From almost every angle this lights up like a Christmas Tree. I urge you to put in a spotlight if you buy it – it really is the only way to get the most out of it. I am not joking when I say that it feels like it’s jumping out of the carbon fibre base. The whole thing works so well I think it might just be my favourite one!

The gold and copper highlights have formed around the gentle radius in the top left hand corner just enough for the shape to feel as it it’s lifted from the surface. It is the most insane visual trick. Oh and I must  a tiny mark on the bottom of the frame – no idea what it is and it won’t come off. Just making you aware in case you buy.
