This is an original, small sized abstract painting that was inspired by the ancient continent of Pangea. This was the largest single continent that we can accurately detail and contained most of the earth’s landmass in one giant area.

I used plenty of blue and green coloured paints as well as earthy tones to ground everything together. I can feel the drama of the oceans, the power of tectonic plates shifting and the majesty of the every evolving climate systems that must have been in force over the millions of years that passed to reach the pint we are at today. It’s been great to capture some of that into a small painting – something that’s easy to live with and to place.

It’s full of tiny details and dramatic twists and turns. It has textures, high and low points and that metallic silver is like liquid treacle in paint!
