This large sized painting that was created using a new, and well-practiced, hand-blotting technique I have developed.
The principle is that I apply paint layers and then slowly begin to remove parts of them in some areas and leave them alone in others. It’s messy, time consuming and more complicated than you might think and for now I am limited to straight lines. But the concept is very exciting and I don’t recall having seen anything like this before.
The combination of neon-blue, shocking pink and moody purple are a real winner; the banding and colours remind me of a DNA profile or some kind of output from a Spectrometer. Very cool.
And then there’s the size of it. At nearly two metres tall it’s imposing and grand and will look breathtaking on a large feature wall or a grey one like I have in the photographs. I could equally see this becoming a very soothing painting and one that would suit a master bedroom or modern conservatory space.
Of course it’s also at home at the more vibrant end of things; strong lighting, chrome and stainless steel and polished floor tiles – what better way to finish off a newly renovated space than to mark it with a big stamp of individuality.
