Midnight Rush is a very large abstract painting ideal for a large open space. It takes its theme from the wonders of the universe and features a huge pink and blue splashed element with a host of other subtle accents underneath.
Capturing the power and energy
Our cosmos is an incredible place. Not just because of its vast size but also because of its infinite complexity and wonder. Energy is created, used and recycled and the system that prduce all this are way beyond what us mere humans can appreciate.
So capturing that majesty, that primal energy was always going to be a challenge. So turning to an equally elemental and raw technique seemed to be the perfect option. I am of course referring to the splashes here and the brutal (yet elegant) way in which they are applied.
Thinned paint, plastic cup, deep breath and go! One shot, no second chances. Getting the consistency right, the angle of the throw, the swing of an arm and the angle of the cup are just a few of the factors at work here – all executed in one second of time. That gives me Big Bang vibes and all that kind of thing.
Choosing colours
If you dig deeper for a moment you’ll find a surprising amount of colour variation past the three main colours of black, pink and blue. The background is a sublte fusion of black and other tones like red, blue and orange. Then the top, explosive layers get treated to yellow dots, purple accents and silver dabs – all eminating from a single central point.
The finished piece
Now, of course I’m going to tell you how maginificent it is right? That much goes without saying. But that’s not an idle baost, it’s merely a statement of fact. The sheer size fo this artwork is captivating enough until you actually stand in front of it and breathe in the power of the universe.
It’s quite profund to be honest. The range of colours between dark and light and sublime and the details keep on revealing themsleves whether you’re standing on the other side of the room or have your nose pressed firmly against it. This painting devlivers. No question.
So if you have a large open space and keep staring at a big white wall thinking about what to do with it then drop me a line below and I will bring this out to you so you can experience it like I do.
