About Love the Rain
Love the Rain is a large abstract painting created with a series of overlapping half circles shapes that I commonly refer to as halos. These have an unusual application method and are applied using a self-built spin machine.
This compact little thing runs off a motorcycle battery and uses a remote to activate it (can’t have wires trailing across a canvas now can we…). It has the ability to run at almost any speed and i can interchange the turntable to achieve different paint results. It’s a very neat thing and I love to paint with it.
However, you still need to have an awesome background layer to set off the halos so this one is created with a complex structure of blue tones fused with metallic silver and white accents.
The halo shapes are entirely made up of tiny paint droplets that spin off the edge of the spin machone. I can control this with variations of speed, paint volumes, spin duration and length of pour on the platform. All clever stuff with an amazing result.
