In a whirlwind recollection of this beautiful piece of Ireland I decided to commit to translating distant memories onto canvas.
Long walks, incredible coastlines and colours that melt into your eyes.
We all get influenced by the things that surround us. People, objects, situations and places.
The way we interpret what we see and consequently how we translate it can be influenced by how deeply we are immersed in it. When a place you visit has a profound effect on you it’s a memory that will last for a lifetime.
I’ve got lots of memories of Galway Bay (too many to talk about here). The coastlines, colours and shapes and textures all stuck in my head. Finally getting round to painting the emotions the place conjours up has been a joy and one I have relished in above many others recently.
Dark stormy weather fronts and serene golden sunsets; craggy rock formations and soft, marshy hill-tops. You could go on forever.
Any art is always subjective and not everyone will see the elements I talk about so this should never put you off buying a piece of abstract art; actually this should be part of of the fun of buying an abstract – deciding what YOU see in it and asking yourself if you make the connection on your own terms.
You don’t have to see my influences – it could equally remind you of a Flamenco dancer (as it also does for me).
