An enormous 13ft long painting with big shapes and colours
How big is your wall? This painting needs plenty of space to be hung and to breathe.
It won’t be to everyone’s taste but if you’ve got a swanky new apartment or just completed a self-build then I can think of no better way to stamp your individuality on a space than to hang an artwork like this in it.
THE STORY BEHIND IT
Let’s make no mistake this is a very big painting so you’re going to need a very big wall to display it; having said that it’s shapes and colours are equally as impressive as its size. The background is made up of five individual layers painted over a number of weeks, onto this are the top layers which are composed of a number of different contrasting colours. Part of the reason why I think this painting works so well is it apparent random craziness which, in actual fact, is a carefully planned out the series of paint applications.
I guess this piece only really works if you can put it on a wall that’s big enough to take it. If you try and squeeze this in somewhere it’s just going to dominate the space too much. The connection with the werewolf title is simply because I wanted to give it a name as crazy as the painting; it just really seemed to fit together well.
Perhaps the biggest statement you can make with this kind of art is to use it as a means to define your individuality. When convention and conformity are squeezing the life out of you it’s time to fight back. Using the best materials I’ve made sure that the rear is also is as carefully constructed as the front – using bespoke alloy strengthening channel and a reversible system to allow the painting to be flicked 180°, not bad for a 13 foot long painting
The story doesn’t end there though. To just think of this in terms of its size would be to miss the point of the painting. By it’s very nature it’s incredibly dramatic and even if it were half the size I still believe it would carry the same level of presence. That’s all down to the shapes I have created. To me it feels like it’s in constant motion and refuses to stop.
