Making an impact

If you want to make a statement with a painting then I don’t think you can go far wrong with an explosive and dramatic piece like Exhilarate. It features a huge volume of silver paint that cuts through the background with an unapologetic bang.

Over the top of this you can see a series of intricate forms created with loops and arcs of paint, delivered straight from the can. Everything was applied in the same session so what you have is a wonderful encapsulation of a series of moments that are beautifully captured and immortalised forever.

Special paints

My specially formulated enamel paints are at the heart of the painting. They have amazing qualities and are unlike anything else. Their ability to morph and change is fascinating and they never case to amaze me.

They are especially suited to these hybrid-style of artworks where multiple application techniques are used in short succession. When they meet each other you get all kinds of interesting chemistry taking place which results in each one being utterly unique.

Oh, that silver!

In this particular painting we have an abundance of metallic silver as well as metallic copper, metallic gold and white. And despite the black base it’s a very positive energy piece and one I find extremely uplifting. I just love the feeling of energy bristling around – like electrons or similar particles.

The details are mind-boggling too. There are twists and turns at every juncture. It also features textures too as paint rises and falls in various thicknesses across the canvas surface. I am a lover of explosive monochrome paintings and this fits in well with that genre. So, if you’re not a fan of bright vivid colours but want something will all the pomp and ceremony, then this could just be the one.
